Wooden Cakes!

We have been exploring art mediums and we used small wooden pieces to create little faces inspired by Karel Appel as I posted before.

Here is the box with the wooden pieces,

and here are some of the faces they created.

After all the faces were ready we still had a lot of wooden chips and I wanted the children to come up with ideas to use them. I would have never predicted what they came up with.

We did a brainstorming activity and one of the students said we could make ‘cakes’. We could glue seeds on the wooden pieces. The wood was the cake, the glue was the frosting and the seeds the decoration. Everyone loved the idea and there we have it, lovely wooden cakes!
