Primary into Secondary Colors

Children love exploring colors. Turning primary colors into secondary colors is magical.

This is a simple sensory experiment to investigate secondary colors.
It is also a Math activity; instead of adding numbers you are adding colors.

The pictures say it all!

MAKING PURPLE

You might need to add a little bit more of both primary colors before the child rubs the hands together.
Now the fun part, rubbing the hands to mix the colors.
 WOW!

  2. I have been doing this activity with two children. They each choose a primary colour, stamp it, then mix their hands and stamp 2 handprints. At the top I put x and x are friends, 1+1=2 and have the senior kindergartners copy the colour words in the same colour of crayon. It's art, math, writing and social development in one colour mixing activity. It sure looks great and is so fun for the kids!
